Cheltenham First Stop is a bustling advice and help centre at the heart of Cheltenham that members of the public with a range of needs can drop in for support, advice and guidance.
With several services and organisations operating out of the space, it is vital that somebody seeking support is signposted to the right service so that they can receive the support they need.
We are recruiting volunteers to staff the reception area as part of a new Reception Plus team, to greet service users and to assess what support they need so they can access the relevant service. Wherever possible, they will also try to meet the individual’s needs themselves, which may include helping them fill in forms or access information. There may also be some light administration duties, including completing/filing paperwork and answering the telephone.
This is a chance to become part of a growing team dedicated to alleviating the impact of homelessness, housing related issues, family breakdown and financial crisis. It is an ideal opportunity for somebody who wants to support vulnerable people, or for those who are interested in acquiring or developing their own skills and expertise in the social care sector.
