Can you be a friendly face and listening ear to older people in your area?
The Orders Of St John Care Trust is a charity with 18 homes for older people across Gloucestershire. They like to make sure every person that they care for has an enriched life doing exactly what they want to do, whether that be joining in activities or simply having a cup of tea and a chat.
The types of volunteering opportunities available are helping with the group activities, sitting with residents and having a cup of tea and a chat, at lunchtime helping in the dining rooms, helping with the tea trolley in either the morning or afternoon and helping in the laundry.
If you can spare an hour or so once a week either in the morning or afternoon during the week, they would like to hear from you.
Helping out in the nursing home will give you immense satisfaction that you enhanced someone's life today and that you made a difference. It will also enhance your CV and show a caring side to new employers and that you are prepared to go that extra mile to help people.
What are they looking for?
All you need is life experience, lots of patience, a kind heart, good sense and an ability to work on your own initiative.
DBS checks are carried out, however a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from volunteering.
When: Mornings/Afternoons, any day
Age requirements: 16 upwards
