Are you a bit arty-crafty ? (Don't worry, you don't have to be a Rembrandt !) Would you like to share your love of arts and crafts with like-minded individuals ?

You would work with the organisation's group facilitator to support small groups of adults who have a learning disability to practise existing skills in craft and learn new ones. Projects often reflect seasonal and personal/group interests. They use a wide range of materials and techniques. In addition to supporting members of the group, you will help the facilitator to set-up and clear away after activities.

There is also a large social element to this role as you encourage individuals to interact and socialise with other members of the group.
What are they looking for?

For this role you will need:

An interest in arts and crafts

Good communication skills

The ability to work with other people

An interest in working alongside adults with learning disabilities

A good sense of humour

Patience

Good problem solving skills

Reliability

You do not need to have expert craft or teaching skills, much of this role is about promoting independence and enabling people to socialise.

Practical

Salter's HIll run two art sessions on a Wednesday so they looking for a somebody who can volunteer for 3 hours at the same time each week, morning (9.30am-12.30pm) or afternoon (1.30pm-4.30pm).

These sessions are based at Pound Farm in Gorsley. This is near a bus route so there is access to public transport in the local area. Pound Farm can be found just off Jct 3 of the M50. As you leave the motorway take the first turning on your left just before you enter the village of Gorsley. Continue along this road for approx. 200m and you will see a large white building in front of you with parking on the left hand side of the road.

Standard volunteer expenses will be paid.

Volunteers will be provided with an induction, training (including Safeguarding) and on-going support from our Volunteer Co-ordinator.
