The St. Mark's Lunch Club Drivers and Couriers need to be able to drive the van to pick up their vulnerable members from their homes in the local area and return them home at the end of sessions. The drivers will be required between 9:00am and 10:30am in the morning, returning members home between 1:30pm and 2:30pm. Lunch is available for any driver who wants to stay. Drivers are needed to help members if they need it and this can be very rewarding. Most members have little chance to leave their home for the rest of the week and this opportunity can be very meaningful to them.
What are they looking for?
Driving skill is necessary for this role. The ability to interact with members is also a necessity and patience will be required in helping members who need more physical help. Understanding and extra explanation may be required for some of the less able members.
Volunteers will receive a full induction and any additional relevant training they may require.
When: Tuesday morning
Age requirements: All ages

St. Mark's Lunch Club aims to provide an opportunity for vulnerable people to get out and interact with other others, providing them with an enjoyable and interesting day and a nutritious lunch cooked at the club. They aim to make the day interesting and enjoyable by providing different activities each week. These can be craft or simple gardening activities, quizzes and games. Guest speakers and visiting groups, e.g. choirs and bands provide opportunities for elderly members to join in and sing. All members are frail and many have physical or mental disabilities. Minivan transportation is offered to all members, without which many could not attend, and is maintained and operated by volunteers.
