Opportunity picture
They need assistants to help run cooking classes for the disabled and, regardless of your level of skill, your help will be invaluable. They have a wonderful group of residents looking to increase their independence by learning to prepare their own meals, or else just have some fun baking cakes and eating sticky desserts! You would work with one resident, helping them gain the sense of achievement and satisfaction that comes with eating something you have prepared yourself.
What are they looking for?

The charity is looking for volunteers who are flexible, reliable, confident and committed, with good communication and time management skills.

Volunteers will receive a full induction and any additional training they may require.

Volunteer expenses will be covered.

Disabled access and toilet facilities are available on-site.

When: Any day/time

Leonard Cheshire Disability (Glos) logo
Leonard Cheshire Disability is a charity supporting disabled people in the UK and around the world to fulfil their potential and live the lives they choose, so that they may contribute and participate fully in society. They campaign alongside disabled people to bring about changes for the better, and to challenge ignorance and unfairness in society.

Locally, Gloucestershire House is an attractive, lively home which provides a range of services for physically disabled adults. At the request of the residents, they provide a wide range of daily activities, including creative art sessions, music appreciation, archery and cookery.
