Befriender  with Insight Gloucestershire (Ref: 151)
Opportunity picture
Do you have a couple of hours a week/fortnight to spare to pop in and visit someone in your local area who is lonely and needs help?

Insight supports blind and sight impaired people throughout Gloucestershire and kind and thoughtful volunteers are needed to visit people with sight loss who often feel isolated.

Our client's needs are varied and include dealing with correspondence, going out for a short walk for a breath of fresh air, helping with computer problems, making a trip to the local shops or simply sitting down for a cup of tea and a chat.

This is a worthwhile and fulfilling role where firm friendships are often developed. Our volunteers find that the visual awareness and sighted guiding training we offer is thought provoking and informative.
We offer ongoing support and travel expenses.

Volunteers from all age groups are welcomed, however the maximum age for this role is 70. Wheelchair Access can vary due to the visit arranged. DBS checks are carried out, however a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from volunteering.
What are they looking for?

Someone who is kind, patient and with good listening skills.

When: Variable times
Age requirements: All ages

Stroud District
