Charlton Lane Hospital is one of the county-wide inpatient facilities provided by ²gether NHS Foundation Trust. The hospital has three wards: two for the assessment and treatment of specialised mental health needs, and one ward called Willow Ward specialising in dementia care.
Their Inpatient wards provide assessment and treatment for people who are no longer able to care for themselves or be cared for in their own home or the residential/nursing home where they live. They aim to help patients become well enough so that they can return to living in the local community either in their own home or a suitable nursing/residential home with the appropriate support they require.
They require someone on Willow ward with a keen interest in gardening to assist with the maintenance of an outdoor and garden area, keeping them tidy and free of weeds so they enhance the healing environment and promote the use of gardening as a therapeutic activity.
The patients of the ward may also want to join in with the gardening, their input may be limited, so they are looking for someone who will be able to work alongside patients with dementia and rekindle their interest in gardening.
What are they looking for?
• Interest and expertise in horticulture
Working hours are completely flexible. Volunteer expenses will be reimbursed.
When: Variable times
Age requirements: Over 18
