The idea of World Stories is brought about by KidsOut (the fun and happiness charity). World Stories is a growing collection of stories from around the world, which includes retold traditional tales and new short stories in the 20 languages most spoken by UK children. These stories help us understand each other and learn about other cultures, as well as celebrating our own traditions and culture. But most of all they are fun! They also have audio version for multiple stories on the site.
This exciting project is looking for volunteers who could write stories.
In return for your hard work, their aim is to put your story on the online website for children and schools to access and read. They will also give credit by posting a biography of you on their contributor’s page. Once the project is more developed, schools will be using your work as teaching resources, thus you will be contributing to the children’s learning of languages. It will be a standout on your CV.
What are they looking for?
Volunteers need to be able to get to KidsOut office in Leighton Buzzard for interview or be able to arrange a time for an informal phone interview.
When: Any day/time
Age requirements: Over 18
Gloucestershire- No fixed location
About KidsOut (VG)
Each year more than 20,000 children flee domestic abuse to seek sanctuary in refuge. Typically leaving home with only the clothes on their back, these children have experienced physical, emotional, and even sexual abuse and arrive at refuge with nothing. In collaboration with Women’s Aid, partner charities and corporate supporters, KidsOut works to remind these children and thousands of others living with disadvantages what it is like to be children and just have fun.
