Stroud Valleys Credit Union has a board of between 12 and 15 directors which meets once a month. The board is responsible for managing the activities of the credit union. There are a number of positions and roles to be filled by the directors. These include, chair, vice-chair, treasurer, secretary and there are a number of subcommittees covering various aspects of the business such as marketing, loans, IT and compliance. This means that directors with different experience and background are needed.
What are they looking for?
The board needs people with a range of skills and experience, including the financial , legal and managerial sectors. A director should have a commitment to the organisation and be willing to devote the necessary time and effort. The ability to work effectively as a member of a team is also important.
Working hours are flexible.
