Opportunity picture
The successful applicant will be co-opted onto the board of directors and will carry out the directors role as stated in the job description for the director vacancy. In addition he/she will shadow the chair and in the chair's absence will take over his duties when they have sufficient training and experience. These duties include: planning and chairing meetings, providing leadership to the board and representing the board outside the credit union. The job is challenging but very rewarding. The credit union gives essential financial support to many families who struggle to make ends meet. SVCU has a very competent board of directors who will do their best to support the chair and vice-chair.
What are they looking for?

A previous leadership role and chairing experience would be an advantage.

The personal qualities that would be relevant are:

i) to be committed to the credit union and understand the responsibilities of directorship
ii) to have good communication and interpersonal skills
iii) to be able the think creatively and have strategic vision
iv) to be a leader and a team player.

Practical

Working hours are flexible. The volunteer must be willing to become a member of the credit union.
