Do you like playing with different gadgets, figuring out how they work and making sure they are safe to use ?Then this is the perfect volunteering role for you. British Heart Foundation looking for people like you to test the electrical equipment that is donated to them, making sure it is suitable and safe for sale before moving on to the final stage of appliance testing.

BHF will give you all the training you need to be able to safely and confidently carry out this role. So if you have an interest in electrical items, can work in a safe and organised manner and would like to broaden your skill-set, pop down to your local BHF Furniture & Electrical store for more information and to join the BHF team.
What are they looking for?

You will need to be able to work in a safe and organised manner.


Volunteer recruitment is by application form and informal discussion.

References are required. Unspent criminal convictions for theft, fraud, violence, sexual offences or drugs would exclude would-be applicants.

Volunteers with additional support needs: BHF have the capacity and facilities to recruit volunteers with additional support needs, as agreed on an individual basis. Risk Assessments will be put in place. Volunteers may be joined by a carer to help support them in their roles.

Volunteer expenses are covered, as are induction for volunteers and insurance cover.

BHF also provides its volunteers with the following:
- ongoing development training
- a Certificate of Achievement
- the opportunity to gain a level 2 NVQ qualification in Team Leading, Retail or Customer Service as well as
to complete 10-12 week knowledge courses in the same areas, as well as Warehousing, through their partner Derby College.
- 25% discount across all of their shops on donated goods
