You’ll be at the heart of the BHF’s fight against heart disease. You'll be serving customers, helping to promote their stock and awareness campaigns and encouraging every donor to become part of their Gift Aid scheme. If you want to get to know the community around you this is a perfect way to integrate yourself into your local area and maybe spread the volunteering bug to new recruits.
What are they looking for?

You'll need to be a 'people person', friendly, polite and enthusiastic.

You'll need to be happy handling money.

Practical

Volunteer recruitment is by application form and informal discussion.

References are required. Unspent criminal convictions for theft, fraud, violence, sexual offences or drugs would exclude would-be applicants.

BHF have the capacity and facilities to recruit volunteers with additional support needs, as agreed on an individual basis. Risk Assessments will be put in place and volunteers may be joined by a carer to help support them in their roles.

Volunteer expenses are covered, as are induction for volunteers and insurance cover.

BHF also provides its volunteers with the following:
- ongoing development training
- a Certificate of Achievement
- the opportunity to gain a level 2 NVQ qualification in Team Leading, Retail or Customer Service as well as
to complete 10-12 week knowledge courses in the same areas, as well as Warehousing, through their partner Derby College.
- 25% discount across all of their shops on donated goods
