Children are often vulnerable when there is a breakdown in family relationships. A child contact centre gives them a chance to re-establish or build relationships that may have been broken, especially between a child and parent who no longer lives with them.
Volunteers oversee the contact sessions, where there can be up to 20 families. There is a team leader, and the volunteers' role is to be there and keep their ears and eyes open so that children are safe and happy. The role is to support the relationship between parents and children, but not to manage or report on it.
