Event Support  with Carers Gloucestershire (Ref: 360)
Opportunity picture
Do you enjoy using your skills to benefit those who need it most?
Could you attend events and provide necessary support, for example doing refreshments or marshalling people?

Our events around the county provide a variety of support to carers; they enable them to have a voice in a situation when they feel isolated and unheard. At fundraising events money can be raised so, for example, carers can go on day trips, which can be a rare opportunity to meet with others and experience time away from caring in the home.

There are many different events planned for 2016 around the county, including an art exhibition and you could be using your skills as part of the volunteering team here at Carers Gloucestershire, raising the profile of the organisation while providing much needed support to those who are experiencing isolation, anxiety and feelings of despair on a daily basis. This role is very flexible and we ask for no minimum time commitment, you may wish to do one event or several over the course of the year.

As one of our volunteers has said, "I volunteered because I had been a carer for my husband after his stroke and was practically housebound looking after him until he died. So when I had free time again it seemed a good idea to do a little to help other carers."
