Volunteers are needed to help at the Gloucester Child Contact Centre. You will help to make sure the session runs smooth for all. The Centre provides a safe and neutral place where children can enjoy the company of adults from whom they are separated.
You will be asked to help once every four/five weeks on a Saturday afternoon 1.00pm - 5.30pm. The work is very rewarding, especially when there has been little or no contact, until using the Centre. Volunteers find deep satisfaction in the knowledge they have helped renew contact which is obviously very important to a child's development and future relationships with both parents.
Training is given.
Volunteers from all age groups are welcome, but the minimum age for this role is 18. DBS checks are carried out, however having a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from volunteering. Disabled and wheelchair access.
What are they looking for?
An awareness of the potential for problems to occur is vital. Emotions of the users can run very high, so calmness and sensitivity are important qualities to possess. Confidentiality is also very important. The Centre is used by Statutory Agencies and they take our position of trust very seriously. Training is given.
When: Variable times
Age requirements: Over 18
