Nearly 60 000 people in Gloucestershire are too ill, frail or disabled to manage without the constant care of a family member. Carers Gloucestershire advises and supports many of these carers - help them reach more by visiting a minimum of one or two doctors surgeries each month with display material and information for practice staff.
As well as being useful in itself, this will also build a relationship with the surgery which will be very helpful in identifying new carers and developing services. Depending on interest, you could deliver talks.
You will be trained, fully supported and have a chance to get to know others in the volunteer team through social occasions and team meetings. You will also be kept in touch with other volunteer opportunities and will be able to contribute ideas for developing the surgery project. Applicants should be 18+.
The monthly visit will probably take about 30 minutes plus any travel involved and will be arranged at the convenience of the volunteer and the surgery contact. Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
