Our Place' Childcare Volunteer  with Cheltenham Borough Council (Ref: 591)

Opportunity picture
The 'Our Place' project is an expanding series of peer support groups for parents in Cheltenham, run during term time. The peer support element will give parents an opportunity to build a support network, to share challenges they are facing with family life, and to share solutions or ideas with one another. There will usually be a craft activity for attendees to join in with, and at times there will be visiting speakers.

They have access to toys so that people are able to come with their pre-school age children and can still engage with the peer group.

The volunteer role is primarily to spend time playing with the children. In addition, they would also like you to share in the hosting duties eg checking that the room is ready beforehand and ensuring that people receive a warm welcome, especially those who are coming for the first time.
What are they looking for?

This role would be most suited to someone who has some experience of childcare, and experience of parenting and of working through the ups and downs of family life would be helpful.

Practical

Volunteer expenses will be reimbursed.

Time commitment: mornings, usually 9.00am to about 11.30am.

The parents/guardians of the children will be on premises in the same room so there will be no period of the volunteer being left alone with any child.

When: Variable times
Age requirements: Over 18
Where?

Oasis Centre, Princess Elizabeth Way, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL51 7SU
