Support Group Organiser  with Carers Gloucestershire (Ref: 720)
Opportunity picture
Could you run a support group for people? Carers in Gloucestershire need space to talk, share and have time away from the isolation of their caring role.

We need volunteers to help carers meet together monthly for mutual practical and emotional support, to share their stories, receive helpful information and have a regular monthly break from caring. The role will be to ‘make this happen’ and can be done by volunteers on their own, in pairs or larger teams. It is likely to involve helping carers form a new group but there may be opportunities to support an existing group. The role can be quite varied but could include ‘facilitating’ discussion times, making sure the venue is ready on the day of the meeting, arranging for any refreshments and gathering comments from the group regarding speaker requests and information needs.

As one of our volunteers has said, "I know that volunteering to be part of a support group, brings a positive feeling within oneself which comes from knowing you are making a difference, however small. It also brings new friends and interests."
What are they looking for?

- with good communication skills
- good listening skills
- able to organise

When: Variable times
