Befrienders have an important part to play in helping people to access activities and facilities in their local communities and helping to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.
They are currently looking for individuals who may be able to spend time with a person or small group of people who have a learning disability to access activities which they are interested in. This could involve attending an exercise class with someone, or simply having a cup of tea and a chat on a regular basis.
Volunteers in this role will be provided with an induction and any appropriate training. They will also receive on-going support from the service managers and Volunteer Coordinator.
What are they looking for?
An ideal volunteer would have good communication skills and a willingness to spend time with someone on a regular basis. No qualifications are required but patience and a sense of humour are always welcome.
When: Variable times
Age requirements: Over 18
