Their office volunteers are an essential link in the chain of support for the bereaved which Cruse provides. Office staff must have a good telephone manner as the first point of contact for clients. Office staff are also responsible for inputting records into the database and handling email. The work is varied and sometimes challenging. Office staff are the outward 'face' of Cruse and know that their role is important.
What are they looking for?
Office skills. The person needs to be able to use a computer and email. They do need to be well organised though actual procedures can be learnt. They need to be interested in people and to be able to empathise on the phone. At the same time they need to be able to get the information that is required. A degree of professional detachment is helpful so that the volunteer may objectively assess the client and empathise without getting emotionally bogged down.
Working times are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings. Volunteer expenses will be reimbursed.
When: Monday morning, Tuesday morning, Thursday morning, Friday morning
