Opportunity picture
Purpose of opportunity:

To provide excellent member service by providing an efficient service for member transactions.

Time required: Typically 2-3 hours per week


• To accept members’ savings and loan repayments, record them and issue receipts.
• To prepare money collected for banking, including completing end of day reconciliations.
• To issue share withdrawals and loan advances to members.
• To accept joining fees from new members, checking that the application form is complete and that the necessary evidence of identity has been provided.
What are they looking for?

1. Experience of customer service, preferably in financial services environment.
2. A self-starter able to work on own initiative, to prioritise work, judge when to consult and take personal responsibility for day-to-day work.
3. To have a meticulous approach, working accurately, thoroughly with attention to detail.
4. To be completely reliable and trustworthy.
5. To deal with challenging behaviour from members in a calm and professional manner.
6. Have an empathy with those facing financial difficulties, understanding some of the barriers they may face.
7. Effective communication skills with an ability to earn the trust of the Stroud Valleys Credit Union Membership.
8. A team Player with willingness to learn and develop through on the job experience.


Working times are Monday to Saturday in the morning. Volunteer expenses will be reimbursed.
