Opportunity picture
Purpose of opportunity:

To safeguard members' savings in Gloucestershire Credit Union by ensuring that loans to members are repaid as agreed in the loan agreement.

Time Required: Typically 3-4 hours per week

Responsibilities:

• To monitor Gloucestershire Credit Union’s loans to members and check that the repayments are made on time.
• To communicate with members who fail to make loan repayments by phone, text and letter.
• To negotiate affordable repayments with members who are unable to meet the original schedule.
• To take appropriate action to recover arrears or re-establish repayments on delinquent loans.
What are they looking for?

1. Experience of credit control, preferably in a personal lending environment.
2. Relevant experience of using financial administration systems and suggesting improvements.
3. A self-starter able to work on own initiative, to prioritise work, judge when to consult and take personal responsibility for day-to-day work.
4. Numeracy and awareness of financial issues including budgeting and financial reporting.
5. Good Information and Communication Technology skills including experience of using databases, word processing software, spreadsheets and data entry.
6. Knowledge and experience of working with financial software packages.
7. Effective communication skills with an ability to earn the trust of the Gloucestershire Credit Union Membership.
8. A team player with willingness to learn and develop through on the job experience.

Practical

Working times are flexible depending on your availability. Volunteer expenses will be reimbursed.
