POhWER is a UK charity which supports people to get their voices heard. It provides the statutory advocacy services for Gloucestershire, through direct and local support via a team of professionals and volunteers. Services are free and independent, helping those struggling with difficulties in their lives, particularly those who have learning difficulties, over 65s, carers and those with mental health issues
The service provides information and support to help people to speak up about things that are important to them, things they are unhappy with or want to change.
Advocacy means enabling your voice to be heard, speaking for you when you can't and supporting you when you can. It is about supporting, enabling and empowering you to express your views and concerns and access information and services where needed, defending and promoting your rights and responsibilities so you can explore your choices and options.
