Organisation: Youth & Community Services
About this volunteer-involing organisation
Youth and Community Services began life in 2010 as an idea to help alleviate the stresses caused by the reduction in public sector provision. Building upon a wealth of professional youth work experience, a group of dedicated and passionate people began to shape the organisation from these initial thoughts.
These inspired few put their heads together to design an organisation fit for the newly emerging youth work environment. This new organisation was to be flexible enough to adapt to the very different needs of each local community, whilst still being firm in its youth work ethos, values and ethical framework.
Good, old-fashioned local authority youth and community services delivered their services in way that was able to find an effective balance between local need and national policy. With cuts to public services the founders of Youth and Community Services in Gloucestershire looked also to the voluntary and community sector and wanted the very best of this work, too.
And so the organisation, Youth & Community Services was born with its aim of working at a grass roots level to help communities develop their own, sustainable youth provision, and to deliver the quality training that makes it happen.
